Lawsuit

Kia's $145 million settlement reimburses owners of vehicles without engine immobilizers for theft losses and anti-theft purchases. Proof required; claims due January 15, 2027.

Kia agreed to settle claims that certain 2011–2022 models lacked engine immobilizers, making them easy to steal. Kia denies the vehicles were defective.

Owners and lessees can be reimbursed for theft-related losses not covered by insurance, insurance deductibles, towing, and the cost of anti-theft devices.

Eligibility

All persons who purchased or leased a 2011–2022 Kia vehicle equipped with a traditional turn-key ignition and no engine immobilizer.
