Park outside, away from buildings

Because of the fire risk, owners are advised to park affected vehicles outside and away from structures until the repair is done.

What happened

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 94,622 sedans. They are certain 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis models and certain 2017–2020 Genesis G80 models. Until they're repaired, owners are told to park them outdoors, away from buildings and other vehicles.

The problem is in the front power seats. If a seat's control switch gets stuck, the seat motor can overheat. That can start a fire, whether the car is parked or being driven. A fire raises the risk of injury.

There is no repair yet. The notice says one is still being developed. Letters to owners are planned for December 7, 2026.

The recall itself gets you the fix once it's ready. Money for other losses usually only comes from a class action or settlement, if one follows — often when buyers paid for something that didn't work as promised. If a settlement opens over this recall, it will be listed on Owed's settlements page.
