What happened

Ford is recalling 223,472 F-150 pickups from the 2023 to 2027 model years. On these trucks, the fuel tank may not be held in place the right way.

A loose tank can leak fuel, or it can drop off the truck while you're driving. A tank lying in the road can cause a crash. Leaking fuel can also make the engine stall or raise the risk of a fire.

Dealers will inspect the straps that hold the tank and replace them if needed, at no cost. Ford mailed letters to owners on September 21, 2026.
