Quick answer

The Jack's data breach settlement is open for claims until November 30, 2026. You can take a flat $55 with no proof, or claim up to $4,000 for documented losses plus up to $80 for lost time, and everyone in the class can add three years of credit monitoring. It covers people whose information was compromised in the July to August 2025 cyberattack on Jack's Family Restaurants; the breached platform held current and former employee data. Use the Login ID and PIN on your settlement postcard on the official settlement site.

What the Jack's data breach settlement is about

Jack's Family Restaurants is a Birmingham, Alabama chain with more than 285 locations across six Southern states. It says it became aware of suspicious activity on or about August 10, 2025, and its investigation found that criminals had access to a platform storing confidential data on its current and former employees between July 24, 2025 and August 10, 2025. Files that were accessed may have held names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and bank account details used for direct deposit of wages, depending on the person. Jack's began mailing notice letters in October 2025.

Several people sued in federal court in Alabama, starting with a case filed on October 24, 2025. The cases were combined as In re Jack's Family Restaurants, LP Data Breach Litigation, No. 2:25-cv-01861-LCB, before Judge Liles C. Burke. Jack's denies doing anything wrong, the court has not decided who is right, and the two sides settled to avoid the cost and risk of continuing. The judge preliminarily approved the deal on July 27, 2026. For how breach settlements usually pay, see our data breach settlement guide.

Who qualifies for the Jack's settlement

The class is everyone living in the United States whose private information was compromised in the incident, including everyone who was sent notice of it. The breached platform stored data on Jack's current and former employees. The class excludes "directors, officers, and employees of Defendant," as well as the judge, the judge's immediate family, court staff and anyone who validly opts out. The court documents don't explain how that exclusion applies to former workers whose data was exposed, so your settlement postcard is the best sign you are covered: Jack's supplied the class list for the mailing, and the postcard carries a Class Member number, a Unique ID and a PIN.

Not sure whether you are in? Call the administrator, Simpluris, at (844) 958-3850 or email info@JacksDataBreachSettlement.com and ask. The documents we read don't say how many people are in the class. Our guide to who is eligible for a class action settlement covers the basics.

How much the Jack's settlement pays

Everyone in the class can claim three years of one-bureau credit monitoring. For cash, you choose a path: documented losses and lost time, or the flat $55. There is no fixed pot to split. The agreement has Jack's pay all approved claims, plus administration costs and the lawyers' fees, and we found no pro rata cut in it. A few documents call the $20 per hour and $55 figures "estimated," but the court-approved notice states them as flat amounts.

Documented losses cover unreimbursed bank or card charges, the cost of replacing ID documents, credit reports, and credit monitoring you bought on or after July 24, 2025. Monitoring needs proof of purchase and a written statement that you bought it mainly because of the breach. Receipts or statements are required; notes you wrote yourself can only back them up. If a documented-loss claim lacks enough proof and you don't fix it, the agreement converts it to the $55 payment. Lost time pays $20 an hour for up to four hours and needs no receipts, so four hours ($80) beats the flat $55, but claim only time you really spent.

How to file the Jack's settlement claim

Filing is free, and you submit it yourself on the settlement site run by the court-appointed administrator, Simpluris. Claims are signed under penalty of perjury, so claim only what is true. For how these login codes work in general, see claim ID vs. notice ID.

  1. Find your settlement postcard. It shows a Class Member number, a Unique ID (your Login ID) and a PIN.
  2. Type JacksDataBreachSettlement.com into your browser and select Submit a Claim. Enter your LoginID and PIN.
  3. Choose your cash option: documented losses and lost time, or the flat $55 payment. Tick the credit monitoring box if you want the three years of coverage.
  4. For documented losses, attach receipts or statements and skip anything already reimbursed. Pick electronic payment or a paper check, then sign and submit by November 30, 2026.
  5. Lost your Login ID or PIN? Email info@JacksDataBreachSettlement.com with your full name and mailing address and ask for them, or call (844) 958-3850.
  6. To file on paper, download the claim form from the settlement site, fill it in and mail it to Jack's Family Restaurants, LP Data Incident Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799, postmarked by November 30, 2026. The site says you can also email the completed form to the administrator.
Two different letters: the breach notice Jack's began mailing in October 2025 told you about the incident. The postcard with your Login ID and PIN is the separate settlement notice, so look for that one.

Key dates for the Jack's settlement

If you do nothing, you get no benefits and give up the right to sue Jack's over the claims this settlement resolves. To keep that right you must opt out by mail, postmarked by November 13, 2026, which also means no payment. You can object and still file a claim. Is the Jack's data breach settlement legit?

Yes. It is a federal court case, and the judge named Simpluris as administrator. The official site is JacksDataBreachSettlement.com, and the administrator's toll-free number is (844) 958-3850. The class lawyer, William B. Federman of Federman & Sherwood, will ask the court for up to $351,000 plus costs. The notice says Jack's pays those fees and that class members are not charged for the lawyer's services.

Breach victims attract scammers. A real class claim never charges a fee to file, and the notice says not to contact the court or clerk about the settlement. Use only the official address, and don't hand your Social Security number or bank login to anyone who calls or texts about a payment. Our guide to spotting settlement scams lists more warning signs.

What happens after you file

Simpluris checks each claim and can send a notice if something is missing; you then have until the claim deadline or 15 days after the notice is sent, whichever is later, to fix it. The judge decides at the December 15, 2026 hearing whether to approve the settlement and the lawyers' fees, and money moves only after final approval and the end of any appeals. The agreement then has Jack's fund approved claims within 45 days of the Effective Date, and the administrator pays no later than 60 days after it, so early 2027 is a realistic earliest window (our estimate, not an announced date). Cash a paper check within 90 days. See how long a settlement check takes for typical waits.

Owed can keep the dates straight: it finds settlements you may qualify for, explains each one in plain English, opens the official claim form, reminds you before deadlines and tracks your claim to payout, while you submit the claim yourself. Owed Pro is $2 for the first week, then $49 per year — one flat membership. Owed never takes a percentage of any payout. You can check what you qualify for or browse the open settlements directory.

This is general information, not legal advice. Owed is not a law firm or a settlement administrator; the court and the administrator decide who qualifies and what each person gets.
