Donutful donuts sold nationwide and on Amazon recalled after allergic reaction

What was recalled

The Better Bakehouse Snack Company, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, is recalling certain lots of Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts because the product may contain undeclared milk. The company announcement is dated Aug. 24, 2026, and the FDA published it the same day.

The recalled item is the 10 Mini Donuts pack: a 7.05 oz carton containing five 1.41 oz (40 g) pouches, UPC 3 50041 39210 3. The notice lists one best-if-used-by date and lot code, 9/15/2026 and Lot 26078, and says the recall is limited to specific lots of product manufactured and distributed in March 2026.

Other Donutful products, other flavors and cartons with a different lot code or best-by date are not described in the notice. This is not a recall of everything the brand sells. The company says it is working with its contract manufacturer and retailers to remove any remaining affected product from the marketplace.

Why the donuts were recalled

The donuts may contain milk that is not declared on the label. The notice uses the standard allergen warning: people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Many allergen recalls begin with an inspection or an internal check. This one began with a person. The problem was discovered after one allergic reaction was reported in connection with the recalled product. According to the company, the contract manufacturer has identified the cause of the mislabeling issue and has taken corrective measures. The notice does not say what the mislabeling was, for example whether the wrong carton was used or an ingredient changed, only that it was a labeling problem traced to the contract manufacturer.

Two other undeclared-allergen recalls in this series show the more typical route: the Chocolatey Eyeballs candy recall was caught by a retail analyst, and the Jaime's Spanish Village Jalapeno Ranch recall came out of an FDA inspection.

Where the donuts were sold

Distribution was broad. The notice says the product was distributed to retailers nationwide and through Amazon.com. It does not name the retail chains, list states or say how many cartons were shipped, so any store or Amazon listing carrying Donutful mini donuts since March 2026 could have received Lot 26078.

Amazon orders leave a record: your order history shows the purchase date and the listing, which may help you work out whether a carton came from the March 2026 production window. For store purchases, the carton itself is the only record unless you kept the receipt.

Several other products covered in this series were also sold through Amazon, including Momchipz veggie chips recalled for undeclared wheat, which reached most of their buyers through the marketplace.

How to identify the recalled donuts

Three identifiers are on the carton: the UPC, the best-if-used-by date and the lot code. The notice lists a single combination, UPC 3 50041 39210 3, best if used by 9/15/2026, Lot 26078, and a carton is part of the recall as described only if it matches.

Check the outer carton, not just the inner pouch, because the notice describes the product as a 7.05 oz carton containing five 1.41 oz (40 g) pouches, 10 mini donuts in all. If you have already discarded the carton and kept only the pouches, the notice does not offer another way to confirm the lot, so call the company's consumer line with your purchase details.

Reported reactions

One allergic reaction. The notice states that the problem was discovered after one allergic reaction was reported in connection with the recalled product, and that the individual has fully recovered. It does not give the person's age, location or the severity of the reaction, and it does not report any other complaints.

That single report is why this recall exists, and it separates this action from the Chocolatey Eyeballs and Jaime's Spanish Village recalls in this series, both of which were found before any reaction was reported. The notice's health language is limited to the standard warning for milk allergens; it does not list symptoms, and this article does not add any.

What to do if you bought them

The company gives two options, and both run through the store or site where you bought the donuts. In the notice's words, consumers can dispose of the affected product and obtain a refund from their point of purchase with a receipt, or return the product to their point of purchase for a refund.

The notice does not describe a refund paid directly by The Better Bakehouse Snack Company, and it does not say how Amazon purchases are handled beyond the same point-of-purchase language. 1. Find the carton and check for UPC 3 50041 39210 3, best-if-used-by date 9/15/2026 and Lot 26078.
2. If all three match, the carton is part of the recall; the notice warns that people with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity risk a serious or life-threatening reaction.
3. Either return the carton to the store or site where you bought it for a refund, or dispose of it and request a refund from the point of purchase with your receipt, as the notice states.
4. Photograph the lot code and best-by date before disposing of the carton.
5. Call 800-243-0335 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern) with questions.

Who issued the recall and when

The recall was announced by The Better Bakehouse Snack Company of Las Vegas, Nevada, in a company announcement dated Aug. 24, 2026; the FDA published it on its recalls page the same day. The announcement predates this article's Sept. 1, 2026 publication date by more than a week, so it is not a same-day announcement, and because the recalled cartons carry a 9/15/2026 best-if-used-by date, some may still be in pantries.

The FDA lists the product type as Food & Beverages (Allergens), the brand as Donutful and the reason as undeclared milk allergen.
