20,134 Chillife Montessori toy sets on Amazon recalled over choking hazard

What was recalled

The recall covers about 20,134 Chillife 5-in-1 Montessori Baby Toy Sets, sold by the Amazon seller Chillife Official. Each set includes five items: a pull string teether toy, circular stacking blocks, a sensory toy, a shape sorting cube with blocks and a suction cup spinner.

Only one of those pieces is the problem. The pull string teething toy has an off-white disc shape with a blue ball in the middle and six long silicone pull strings in various colors running through the ball, plus three free-spinning rings and soft push buttons on the disc. The CPSC notice describes it as the violative piece, and the remedy applies to it alone.

The importer is listed as Shenzhen Xingchuangyi Trading Co., Ltd., doing business as Chillife Official, of China. The sets were manufactured in China. This is not a recall of every product Chillife sells; it names one set, identified by the model number printed on the packaging (see the identification table below).

Why it was recalled

According to the CPSC, the pull string teething toy violates the mandatory standard for toys because its silicone strings are smaller and longer than permitted. The agency's notice says the strings "can reach the back of children's throat and become lodged, posing a risk of respiratory distress and deadly choking hazard."

In plain terms: a thin, long string can slide far enough into a baby's mouth to block the airway. That is why the CPSC's instruction is to stop using the teether immediately and take it away from children, rather than simply supervising play more closely.

The CPSC issued a separate product safety warning the same day about Warm Feather pull string highchair teething toys, which uses nearly identical hazard language; the difference is that Chillife Official agreed to a recall and the Warm Feather seller did not. If you own a pull string teether from any other brand, the CPSC recalls page is the place to check whether it has been named.

Where it was sold

The sets were sold online only, on Amazon.com, from July 2023 through April 2026 for about $27, according to the CPSC notice. The seller of record is Chillife Official.

The nearly three-year sales window matters. A set bought as a baby-shower gift in 2023 may have been passed down to a younger sibling or a friend's child by now, and the pull string teether may have been separated from the rest of the set. If you received a Chillife Montessori set secondhand, the recall still applies to it.

The notice does not list any physical stores or other websites. If you bought a similar-looking 5-in-1 Montessori set from a different Amazon seller, it is not covered by this recall number; check the model number and the seller name in your Amazon order history. Amazon-sold children's products featured in several other CPSC actions announced the same week, including the Girigi magnetic building blocks warning and the MD Wipe Outz numbing tattoo wipes recall.

How to identify an affected set

The recall notice gives one identifier: the text "Model: CHILLIFE01" printed on the side of the product packaging. If you have thrown away the box, use the description of the teether itself, which is distinctive: an off-white disc with a blue ball in the middle, six long silicone strings of different colors threaded through the ball, three free-spinning rings and soft push buttons.

Your Amazon order history is the other quick check. Search it for "Chillife" or "Montessori" and look at the seller name on the order; the recalled sets were sold by Chillife Official between July 2023 and April 2026.

Reported incidents and injuries

The CPSC says it is aware of four choking incidents involving the pull string teether. No medical attention was required in any of them, according to the notice.

Four incidents is a small number relative to about 20,134 sets sold, but the notice describes the risk as "respiratory distress and deadly choking," and the fix the agency chose is removal of the toy rather than a warning label or closer supervision.

The CPSC asks anyone who has experienced a safety incident with this product, whether or not it led to an injury, to report it at SaferProducts.gov. Consumer reports are one of the ways the agency learns whether a hazard is wider than the cases it already knows about. You can also call the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772.

What to do if you have one

The remedy is a partial refund of $5.40 for the pull string teether, from Chillife Official. The CPSC notice states it this way: "Consumers should stop using the pull string teether toys immediately, take them away from children and contact Chillife Official for a partial refund of $5.40. Consumers will be asked to destroy the toy by cutting all silicone strings and writing in permanent marker 'DESTROYED' on the main body of the toy and send a photo of the destroyed toy to Chillifebabytoyrecall@outlook.com. Consumers should then dispose of the destroyed product."

The only contact channel on the notice is email: Chillifebabytoyrecall@outlook.com. No phone number or website is listed. The rest of the set (blocks, sensory toy, sorting cube, spinner) is not mentioned in the remedy, and the notice does not mention Amazon returns.

1. Take the pull string teether away from your child now, before doing anything else.
2. Find your proof of purchase (Amazon order history) and, if you still have the box, photograph the side showing "Model: CHILLIFE01".
3. Cut all six silicone strings off the teether and write "DESTROYED" in permanent marker on the main body of the toy.
4. Photograph the destroyed teether and email the photo to Chillifebabytoyrecall@outlook.com to request the $5.40 partial refund.
5. Throw the destroyed teether away. Do not sell it, donate it or pass it on, and keep a copy of your email until the refund arrives.

Who issued the recall and when

The recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Aug. 27, 2026. The CPSC recall number is 26-727. The importer named on the notice is Shenzhen Xingchuangyi Trading Co., Ltd., doing business as Chillife Official, of China, and the notice title notes that the sets violate the mandatory standard for toys.

As of the notice date the recall is open, and no end date or refund deadline is given. Refund requests go through the email address above, so it is sensible to send the photo promptly and keep a copy of what you sent and when.

Two other infant-product recalls were announced by the CPSC on Aug. 27, 2026: the HABA Rainbow Rattle recall (about 2,000 units, over knots that can come untied) and the Kmaier infant walker recall (about 243 walkers sold on Target.com). A recall notice may never reach you directly, so check the sources yourself. For toys, nursery gear and household products, watch the CPSC recalls page or subscribe to its email alerts. For food, drugs and cosmetics, use the FDA recalls page and FoodSafety.gov alerts; for meat and poultry, USDA FSIS recalls; for vehicles, the VIN lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Retailer emails and the brand's own site fill the gaps.

Keep receipts, order confirmations and photos of packaging showing model numbers, lot codes, UPCs and best-by dates. If a company refund, reimbursement or a future claim program becomes available, that paperwork may be what proves you owned the product; it is also what most class action claim forms ask for.
